ABOUT MATTHEW ROSS
Brooklyn based movie journalist-turned filmmaker, Matthew Ross's deep love and knowledge in film were clearly showcased in his beautifully crafted narrative feature "Frank & Lola," a psychosexual noir love story starring Michael Shannon and Imogen Poots. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2016 and was immediately acquired by Universal.
As a journalist with a degree from Harvard, Ross enjoyed a successful career as an editor/writer at publications such as Variety, Filmmaker, Indiewire, and The Village Voice, but found himself following his passion to be behind the lens. Ross's directing work include the festival shorts “Lola," "Red Angel," "Curtis and Clover," a viral video "Inspired by Bret Easton Ellies” - described by film critic Roger Ebert described as “one terrific video,” and a series of documentary episodes for FIGHT! Life, which has logged over 6 million Youtube views.
An alumni of Sundance Filmmakers Labs, Ross also served as a story consultant for Larry David's HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and a member of the IFP's Program Advisory Board. Ross is currently completing his 2nd feature, "Siberia" starring Keanu Reeves.
